Lasith Malinga Takes His 3rd ODI Hattrick

Lasith Malinga became the first player to take three hatricks in International ODIs. Previously Lasith had taken two hattricks and both of them were during the world cup matches.

His first victim was Mitchel Johnson who was bowled by a fast yorker. Nest one to face Malinga was John Hastings who was out LBW to a loe full toss. It was Xavier Doherty who was facing the hatrick ball. Surely he was expecting a yorker from Malinga and it was. Unfortunately Doherty’s defenses were not enough for the tow crushing Malinga’s yorker.

Lasith took his first hatrick back in 2007 against South Africa team. It was a “double hattrick” as he took four wickets in four consecutive deliveries.

During 2011 ICC Cricket world cup, Lasith Malinga took his second one day international hatrick against Kenya team in Sri Lanka. Earlier this year Malinga also took a hatrick in the IPL as well.
