Tsunami in Indonesia

A powerful, 7.7-magnitude earthquake triggered a tsunami that pounded villages on remote islands off westernIndonesia, killing at least 40 people and leaving more than 400 others missing, witnesses and officials said.

The fault that ruptured Monday, running the length of the west coast of Sumatra island, also caused the 9.1-magnitude quake that unleashed a monster tsunami around the Indian Ocean in 2004, killing 230,000 people in a dozen countries including Sri Lanka.
