More Elephants for constitutional Amendments perahera

UNP parliamentarian of Galle district, Manusha Nanayakkara says he will support the constitution amendments.

Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo, he said it was the responsibility of the opposition to support the President at a time when he was attempting to develop the country after defeating terrorism.

Earlier of the day, UNP parliamentarians Lakshman Seneviratne and Earl Gunasekera announced at a media briefing that they would support the constitutional amendments.

Commenting on the decisions made by the three party MPs, UNP general secretary Tissa Attanayake said disciplinary action would be taken against them for going against a party decision.

Meanwhile, JVP secretary Tilvyn Silva asked the UNP to ensure that all its MPs who had contested under its ‘elephant’ symbol will vote against the proposed constitutional reforms.

That will alone suffice to prevent the passage of the proposals with a two-third parliamentary majority, he said.

    That is eternal truth.

  2. Dear sir,
I’d lime to make a comment of UNPers. U.N.P. unanimously take a decision to vote against proposed constitutional resolution. But these people against the party decision. These people should be chased away under the disciplinary action taken by UNP.
    Thank you,
