A petition for revision was filed in the Western Provincial High Court yesterday requesting the custody of a pet dog.
The petition requested court that the order given by Mount Lavinia Magistrate Harsha Sethunga to hand over the pet dog Ringo, a Golden Retriever, to the person who cared for the dog, be set aside.
Attorney at law Nimal Muthukumarana filed the petition on behalf of his client, the original owner of Ringo.
The magistrate had given the order when the case filed in the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s court with regard to the alleged unlawful ownership of Ringo by the person who cared for the pet dog, was taken up.
The magistrate, in handing over the custody of Ringo to the person who cared for the dog, had noted that the complainant original owner had had not established ownership to the Golden Retriever.
The person who cared for the Golden Retriever had said in court that Ringo was lying in front of his house suffering from a severe skin aliment and he had taken him to a veterinary surgeon and cared for the animal.
When the dog was in the house of the person who cared for him, the original owner had demanded that the dog be handed over to him.
The Magistrate’s order handing over Ringo to the person who cared for the suffering dog notes that the original owner had filed the petition as although the owner had called Ringo by name, the Golden Retriever had refused to go with him. newsfirst
