Sri Lanka’s cricket captain Kumar Sangakkara has climbed to the top in the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen replacing India’s Virender Sehwag.
Sangakkara’s performance at the second Test match against India of the current three-match series with 219 in the first innings and 42 not out in the second has earned him the top spot. He has occupied the top position lat year.
Sehwag has dropped to second after making 99 runs in the first innings but not batting in the second after the match ended a draw in Colombo on 30 July.
Meanwhile Sangakkara’s teammate and Vice Captain Mahela Jayawardena was ranked at the third spot behind Sehwag.
India’s Sachin Tendulkar has climbed two places to take fourth position in the rankings after his impressive double century during the match.
