The report presented by the Central Bank for the year 2009 carries errors and statistics that cannot be accepted says Dr. Anula Dias, a former senior head of the Bank.
Participating in an interview with a private TV channel Ms. Dias said despite stating there was a 5.6% development in the construction sector, the import of raw material necessary for construction sector has been reduced by 24% and local production of such material too has been reduced. When the supply of raw material necessary for construction sector has completely broken down how could it gain any development she asks.
Also the Central Bank report states work at port has gone up by 7%. However, imports have come down by 12% and exports by 7% she points out. She also says the number of ships that arrive at the port has come down. In such a situation stating that work at port has developed by 7% is a joke says Ms. Dias.
Dr. Anula Dias further states there are number of errors and false figures in the Central Bank report. Hence, it should be revised she says.
