Update (2010/3/24) – Sri Lanka rejects visa for Akon

Akon, born Aliaune Thiam on October 14, 1981, is a Senegalese-American hip hop and R&B singer, songwriter, and record producer. Akon rose to fame in 2004 following the release of his single “Locked Up” from his debut album Trouble.

In the early years of his life, Akon was sent to jail for three years for a car-theft charge. This however, wasn’t the first time he was sent to jail.  In April 2007, Akon drew criticism for an onstage act which included simulated sex with Danah (Deena) Alleyne, a preacher’s daughter aged 15 at the time. After this incident, Many TV, Radio Music Companies removed ringtones featuring Akon’s songs & not sponsored few tours as well.

However this famous person from music as well as illegal activities has produced a controversial music video for the song “Sexy Bitch/Sexy Chick ” in July 2009 that insulting to Lord Buddha and Buddhism. In that video, some half-naked girls (with bra & panty) are dancing front of a statue of Lord Buddha. If that video against Other religion, the entire world will rice against that and definitely that person have to pray pardon for that.

The heartbreaking thing is Platinum Entertainment with the sponsorship of MTV/MBC Networks (Maharaja Organisation), Dialog & Sri Lankan Air Lines and in association with Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau organized a musical show that held in 2010 April 24 in SSC ground and invited to that infidel to visit Sri Lanka and participate to that.

It is not enough just stop the visit or boycott of Akon, but the Government of Sri Lanka seriously think about the conspiracy of this type of artistes & organizers who done/doing against the Buddhism and hereafter must get an action for this kind of situations because the government is bonded by Sri Lankan constitution to protect the Buddhism at all cost.
