Presidential election candidate General Sarath Fonseka stresses that he will not let any threat be posed to the country that was united with much effort.
General Fonseka made this statement when he called on the Mahanayake of the Malwathu Chapter recently.
The Venerable Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera, the Mahanayake of the Malwathu Chapter of the Siyam Nikaya raised concerns that a lot of people were suspicious about him reaching an agreement with the TNA which might be detrimental to the country.
When General Sarath Fonseka refuted this claim and said that he has not signed any agreement with any party leader, the Mahanayake requested him to clarify this to the public
Speaking further, General Fonseka said that he had not discussed anything with MP R. Sampanthan that would cause injustice to the people of the south or would affect the country’s territorial integrity or sovereignty.
“We will consider a method which will grant power to the parliament. We have said that solutions must be found in a manner that will not cause injustice to any ethnicity. We have also pledged not to let any harm befall the country.
“We will not let injustice be done to the country. We won’t change those policies. We united and liberated this country with much effort. We won’t let any threats be posed to it. In fact, the leaders of the TNA did not make any unfair demands,” said the General. newsfirst
