The President treating guests with liquor at a social function is not a bad precedent for the ‘Mathata Thitha’ (Abolish intoxication) programme of the government says Parliamentarian of the JHU and authority on archeology Ven. Ellawala Medananda Thera.

Speaking at a press conference held at the election propaganda office of the UPFA Ven. Medhananda Thera said the statement made by common candidate Gen. Sarath Fonseka that little bit of liquor taken at a social function could be acceptable should be condemned as a policy of making the county a haven for drunkards.

At this journalists who were present asked Ven. Medhananda Thera why he and JHU did not condemn the President for having a function for about 3000 journalists and treating them with liquor. Responding to journalists the Thera said, “Treating guests with liquor at a function held by the President is different.” The rest of Thera’s words were drowned out in the loud laugh of the journalists present

  1. He’s not opposing it? Now the doubt is, even he is supporting the wrecked minded President for his unfaithful acts. And the sad story is these kind of ven.s who says “wadhi bana” needs to be kicked off from the society in order to keep the society clean and clear.

The statement is completely a bullshit – supporting and encouraging the president because this fellow might have been visited by Mr. President overnight the same day.
