Sri Lanka’s National Mobile services provider, Mobitel announced a new communication package to all UPAHARA customers. The new package offers customers five supplementary connections with the ‘Senehase’ UPAHARA connections together with an advantageously priced high speed internet package.

This economically priced data package said Chairperson Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel Mrs. Leisha De Silva Chandrasena, is a mark of gratitude to customers for their patronage.

‘Senehase’ UPAHARA customers will benefit from the low call rates in conjunction with the high speed internet connection. The 3.5G high speed internet connection with its 1GB monthly data bundle is expected to be highly popular with customers and its monthly rental rate of Rs. 240 makes it more attractive

The Minister hopes that state sector employees will take full advantage of the added benefits of the ‘Senehase’ UPAHARA package. The current subscription number is in excess of 550,000 and the numbers are expected to increase.
Among the added benefits of the new package are 50 minutes free video calls within the Mobitel network, low monthly rental costs, and economical rates for SMS and MMS. The ‘Senehase’ UPAHARA package is aimed at bringing mobile telephony further within reach of hundreds of thousands of state sector employees and pensioners across the island.

  1. This is very unfair to do Upahara to reired government servants as there are many more pensioners who have worked harder.

  2. the 5 voice sublines are useless since the existing smart prepaid already has a much better tarrif plan without any rental. Out going to other networks Rs.3 per minute makes it damn useless. but the economically priced broadband line is MAXXA…! Thatz the cheapest mobile broadband package ever with an excellent speed. even the SLT ADSL 512 line costs Rs.500 per month and the excessive data usage Rs 5 per a block of 10MB. but this 1Mbps line is only Rs240 per month and its just Rs2 per additional 10MB. is it possible to buy the broadband line alone without the voice lines? i mean, is it a must to buy these 5 voice lines too?

  3. @ maxed – i think they were introduced this sub lines by targeting the calls within that group. means 50 cents per minute within that group (calls from main line to sub lines are free. coz it has 100min free)

upto 5 sub lines means, even you can purchase a one, two or three. thats up to you. only the Broadband line is possible.

  4. i bought an upahara data sim recently..on day time it is fast as (80-130)Kbytes/s(nice speed) but at night it really sucks! and i mean that, worse than dial up. data speed less than 5KB/s almost all the time and sometimes it is in just BYTES!!can u imagine it such a variation!!..

so Mobitel gotta do smthng for this ASAP!!
    Thank you.
